Kekkai Genkai (Advanced Bloodline, Bloodline Limit)
Throughout the infinite villages of Naruto there lay many clans, each of these clans has their own unique traits that make them uniquely, identifiably theirs. However, there are only a few clans who can say that they have a kekkai genkai, or advanced bloodline in their clan. An advanced bloodline refers to something that is passed down generation to generation in a specific clan, it is in the genetic makeup of each clan that can not be duplicated or imitated by any method. Advanced bloodlines are always used to the advantage of the user, improving their chances in combat and making them a very worthy opponent. The rulers and warlords of each country had taken advantage of each bloodline to it's fullest extent to help their chances in war, and thus the people began to associate advanded bloodlines with war and pain. This reached the point of hatred towards anybody who was part of these special clans resulting in the genocide of these individuals and whole families, as was the case with Haku.

Byakugan (White Eyes, Evil Eyes)

The Byakugan, literally White Eyes, (or Evil Eye as it is known in the English translations) is a very special condition of the eye that occurs naturally in all members of the Hyuuga clan. While it is believed that the Byakugan is genetically related to the Uchiha clan Sharingan, it is capable of many things the Sharingan is not and as Hatake Kakashi states, in terms of insight the Byakugan surpasses even his own Sharingan.

Used mainly as a taijutsu technique, the Byakugan gives it's user many great abilities including the ability to have a 360 degree field of vision, except for one tiny blind spot behind the first thoracic vertebra, this tiny spot is the only known weakness of this special ability. With the Byakugan activated it's user has the ability to detect anything that moves around them in a 50 foot radius, making the Byakugan a difficult task to fight against. When used with chakra the Byakugan becomes more powerful and can see through most solid matter over extremely long distances and allows it's user to see the inner coil system of the enemy, opening them to an attack on their tenketsu (Chakra Holes) by the hand of the juken (Gentle Fist). Only very advanced users of the Byakugan such as Hyuuga Neji can use the aforementioned juken technique, but when used successfully it can shut off the chakra flow of the opponent which has disasterous effects.

As one of only two known pupil techniques in the Naruto world, the other being the Uchiha clan Sharingan, it is only natural that there are several techniques that can only be used by one who possesses the ability of the Byakugan. These techniques include the Hakkesho Kaiten (Eight Trigram Palms Heavenly Spin) which creates an impenetrable dome barrier of chakra around the user, shielding all physical attacks and is one sure way to defend against the one open blind spot. Other techniques exclusive to the Byakugan are Hakke Rokujuyon Sho (Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms) and Hakke Hyaku Nijuha Sho (Eight Trigrams On Hundred Twenty-Eight Palms) which both make use of the ability to see and strike the tenketsu (Chakra Holes)of the opponent, shutting them down and rendering him unable to use any powerful techniques that involve chakra, and potentially killing him. It seems that while using this technique, the user has the ability to see everything in slowmotion. Only one person has been able to use chakra successfully after such a strike, Uzumaki Naruto, for the sole reason that he has two sources of chakra (His normal chakra and that from the Kyubi) which allowed him to continue in battle using chakra techniques.

Mastery of Water & Ice

Not much is known about the clan that Haku was derived from, in fact the name of the clan itself is unknown, and it appears that Haku was the last living member of the clan that was wiped out after a civil war in the Hidden Mist Village where the hatred of people with advanced bloodlines was rampid after ninja were largely blamed for the war. After escaping his own Father's attempt on his life Haku would become a disciple of Zazbuza and master his clans amazing abilities to manipulate water and ice. Haku's most powerful technique is the Demonic Ice irrors in which he creates an area of very strong mirrors made out of ice, surrounding his opponent.

The bloodline allows him to move at the speed of light between the mirrors, bouncing back and forth to the point where the opponent can not judge where he is at, while allowing him to throw piercing needles at his opponent. This technique had never been defeated before and always meant the demise of anyone who had to come up against someone with this bloodline. This unique bloodline also gives it's user the ability to manipulate water as is evident when he transforms simple water in to a sonbon needle to attack Sasuke. Perhaps one of the more interesting aspects about Haku in particular, and possibly this bloodline, is that the user is capable of performing such advanced bloodline techniques by using only one hand to perform the hand seal, where typically both hands are used to perform even the simplest technique.

The Sharingan, literally Copy Wheel Eye, is a very special condition of the eye that occurs naturally in some members of the Uchiha Clan. While it is believed to have been derived from the Hyuuga clan Byakugan the abilities of the Sharingan differ greatly from those of the Byakugan. Most notably the Sharingan's most well known ability is to be able to memorize any technique that it has been a witness to including nijutsu, genjutsu and taijutsu techniques. Other abilities of this very special eye include hypnosis, allowing it's user to suggest actions and thoughts to the opponent. The Sharingan also has the very useful ability to see through any illusionary technique.

Just like the Byakugan, the Sharingan also has one main weakness, while it is not a blind spot as the Byakugan has, this weakness could be more physically dangerous. When used for an extended period of time, in some cases, it drains the chakra of the user quite quickly. Any user of the Sharingan must have a good amount of chakra and stamina in order to successfully copy a technique, however, no amount of chakra will allow it's user to copy the abilities of another clans exclusive bloodline abilities, or allow him to summon a creature with whom he has not made a contract with. Along with all these, the worst opponent a Sharingan user could ever come up against is one who specializes in taijutsu such as Rock Lee. Because no hand seals involving chakra are required for taijutsu they can not easily be copied unless the user has extraordinary amounts of strength, agility, and stamina to keep up with the swift moves of a taijutsu user.

Unlike the Byakugan, the Uchiha clan Sharingan does not appear automatically at birth in an Uchiha clan member. Instead the Sharingan will typically not show up until the user is faced with a life threatening situation, the Sharingan will activate and help to save the life of the user, and after the first appearance of the Sharingan, the user can call upon the use of the Sharingan at any time he pleases. One interesting fact about the Sharingan is that you can gauge the power of the Sharingan user by counting the dots in the person's eye. One dot would be a beginner, two an intermediate, and three dots are found in each eye of a matured adult Sharingan user. It is not unusual to find a user whose two eyes contain different amount of dots, such as Uchiha Sasuke who initially had two dots in one eye, and just a single dot in the other eye, until eventually both eyes evened out as he matured.

Users of the Sharingan include Uchiha Itachi, Uchiha Sasuke, Uchiha Obito (deceased), and Hatake Kakashi. Until revealed in the Kakashi Gaiden storyline, it was always a mystery how Hataka Kakashi, not a member of the Uchiha clan, possessed the Sharingan that is exclusive to the Uchiha clan. We have learned that it is possible to transplant Sharingan eyes from one user to another, as is the case when Uchiha Obito (team-mate of a young Hatake Kakashi) gifted his eye to Kakashi upon his own death, the implant was performed by Rin (team-mate of Hatake Kakashi and Uchiha Obito). The drawback of being an un-natural user of the Sharingan is that it causes much more strain on the body of the user.

The Mangekyou Sharingan (Kaleidoscope Copy Wheel Eye)
The Mangekyou Sharingan, literally Kaleidoscope Copy Wheel Eye, is a higher form of the Uchiha clan Sharingan. Until recently, it was thought that only natural Sharingan users could obtain that technique, but it seems that Kakashi proved everyone wrong by activating the Mangekyou Sharingan to rip off one of Deidara's arms. The Mangekyou Sharingan is not easy to obtain however for those who are not made of cold blood as they must make a tremendous sacrifice in order to obtain it, they must kill their best friend. In Itachi's case, we learned that he killed Uchiha Shisui. As for Kakashi, his best friend, Uchiha Obito, sacrificed himself to save him, making Kakashi a potential Mangekyou Sharingan user. However, despite its immense destructive power, the Mangekyou Sharingan is a double edged sword. Hence, the Sharingan 'causes a terrible strain on the user's eyes and eventualy deteriorate his eyesight. Morevover, using the Mangekyou Sharingan uses enourmous amounts of Chakra. And for unatural users of the Sharingan, such as Hatake Kakashi, it's even worse. But, despite its drawbacks, the Mangekyou Sharingan is the deadliest technique known to this day.

To date only three people out of a possible four people have obtained this legendary eye, Uchiha Itachi, Hatake Kakashi and an unknown Uchiha ancestor. The only other person who could possibly attain the Mangekyou Sharingan is Uchiha Sasuke, to obtain this he would have to kill his best friend, Uzumaki Naruto. With the Mangekyou Sharingan activated one major advantage is to be able to use the three most powerful jutsu possible, two of which have been revealed so far: Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu.

The Kaguya clan was responsible for starting a war against the ninja of the mist village and despite their special bloodline ability Shikotsumyaku they suffered a devestating loss in the war. So far we have only seen a single member of the Kaguya clan, and Kimimaro has displayed the Kaguya clans frightening and graphic ability to manipulate their bone structure, they can control the density, the shape the movement and the number of their bones and use them as weapons that are as sharp as a dagger and very destructive to their opponent. The bodies of those who possess this bloodline are virtually indestructible with their special offense even allowing them to shoot bones out of their fingertips that are as sharp as a spear, any point of contact on their body would cause great damage to their opponent. The most powerful techniques this unique clan possesses are it's many dances that are named after flowers.

After having read this list you may be asking yourself why things such as Akadou Yoroi's chakra leach, or the Aburame clans ability to host bugs in their body, or even Kidomaru's spider web abilities are not included on this list. The reasoning for this is simple, because as the second data book on the Naruto series states, it is not an advanced bloodline if they are not genetic, rather these skills had to be learned and may have become a clan trait or secret technique. Although it may be just unique to one clan it can not be considered a special bloodline as people born to other clans could learn techniques such as those.
