Kikyo
Who Is She?
Kikyo is the priestess that InuYasha fell in love with. She was entrusted with the Jewel
of Four Souls to keep it purified. She convinced InuYasha to use the jewel to become either a full human or demon, but before
it could take place, Naraku tricked them into deceiving each other. As a result, InuYasha was pinned to a tree and doomed
with an eternal sleep by one of her arrows. Kikyo died from the wounds inflicted upon her by InuYasha and the jewel was burned
with her body. 50 years after the incident, Kagome is told that she is the reincarnation of Kikyo. Kikyo was brought back
to life by the evil witch Urasue, but is one of the Undead. She is also older sister to Kaede.
Appearance:
Kikyo is dressed as a Miko Priestess of 500 years ago. Plain white top, red pants, and sandals.
Her hair is usually pulled back. Soul collectors accompany Kikyo to bring her souls of the dead. This is so that she can maintain
her counterfeit body and remain among the living. She has a bow and arrows.
Personality:
A little hard to explain the Miko's disposition. Before she died, she was very much in love
with InuYasha and was quite amiable. When she was resurrected, her bitter memories over InuYasha's betrayal caused her to
be filled with hate and revenge against him. She's toned down a bit, and now she focuses more on stalking and pining over
InuYasha than on killing him and Kagome. She helps both the enemy and the good guys. Her relationship with Naraku is a bit
twisted...
Weapons:
Kikyo has her bow and arrow, which she charges with spiritual energy when bringing down
a demon or barrier.
WARNING!
She really doesn't care who she helps. She gave Naraku a huge chunk of the jewel (the WORST
thing you can do!), almost kills Kagome a couple of times, takes up most of InuYasha's thoughts, and is constantly causing
trouble for Naraku and InuYasha and Kagome's relationship. She's very monotonous in terms of politics and with the struggle
of good and evil.
Age: was 18
Race: human
Family: little sister, Kaede
Love: Inuyasha
Hate: Naraku
Weakness: can't move without dead souls
Weapon: bow and arrow
Looks: long, straight black hair, sometimes tied it back loosely, dressed in priestess
clothing
Abilities: can see/sense jewel fragments, power to purify, create barriers, other priestess
powers
Fact: died 50 years ago and was brought back to life, has a body made out of dirt and bones
Personality: before she was dead - nice, quiet, caring, and merciful; after - pretty much
same as before, except now she is more detached and less merciful toward her enemies.
Goal: get revenge for her death = taking Naraku to hell
Quote: "Go Naraku, gather the shards of the jewel, and once you found them all, then I
will send you to hell."
Kikyou was a priestess in charge of keeping the Shikon Jewel safe. Meaning that she had to live a very solitary life.
When Inuyasha came to steal the jewel from her, she didn't kill him, just pinned him to a tree with her arrows. He then
followed her around, and the two begin to fall in love. They planned to use the jewel to turn Inuyasha human.
The jewel will disappear and Kikyou will be free from protecting it. Then she and Inuyasha could live together.
But thing didn't go as they planned, on her way to Inuyasha, Kikyou was attacked by "Inuyasha" and was seriously injured.
Inuyasha on the other hand, was attacked by "Kikyou", while he was waiting for her. He thought she betrayed him, so
he came to the village to steal to jewel. He then ran into the real Kikyou. She shot him in the heart with her
arrow and sealed him off. She died on the same day and her body was burned along with the Shikon Jewel. 50 years
later, she was brought back to life by a demon who planned to use her to find the jewel shards. When Inuyasha saw her,
he called out her named, forcing her soul out of Kagome's body and back into her. She then attacked him out of anger
that he had betrayed her. After Kagome woke up, the soul escaped from her body and back into Kagome. She
got away with a little bit of her soul, and then fell over a cliff. At first, her plan was to take Inuyasha to hell
with her, but after she found out the truth that Naraku was responsible for her death. Her goal shifted toward destroying
Naraku. Overall, she is still much in love with Inuyasha

The Appeal
Kikyou is my favorite female character in the show. Sesshoumaru is my favorite male character. But
if I have to choose between the two, it would be Kikyou. Very rarely that my favorite #1 character in a show is a female.
It has always been good-looking males (hehe...I'm so shallow). Trunks in DBZ, Kurama in YYH, Touya and Yue in Cardcaptor
Sakura, Ayame in Fruits Basket, Seto Kaiba in Yu-Gi-Oh... you get the picture. But there's just something about Kikyou
that really attracted me to her and that I dare to pick her over Sesshoumaru as my #1 favorite.
My very first episode of Inuyasha was the one where Kikyou's ashes were stolen. When Kagome was thinking
that Inuyasha must had loved Kikyou and that she didn't love him back and just pinned him to a tree, that just got me thinking
about what really happened between them. I was hooked on the show because of that one episode, mainly because I was
interested in Kikyou and Inuyasha's relationship. The next episode, where Kikyou returns, was the best episode ever.
When she was brought back to life and saw Inuyasha. She screamed out his name and "why did you betrayed me?" You
can see all her furies, hurts, and betrayal at that moment. I was just touched by her pain and suffering. And
the way Inuyasha looked at her with all those pains in his eyes was just so sad and yet romantic at the same time. During
the flashbacks, you get the see her harsh and lonely life. I just can't help but feel sorry for her. You can see
the loneliness and sadness in her eyes. The way she smiles at Inuyasha was just so sweet. And the part where Inuyasha
followed her around and watching her from afar was pretty romantic. At the end of the episode, you can see Inuyasha
on the ground in emotional pain and screaming confusion of what had gone wrong. Don't you just love broken romance and
betrayal that ended in death? I sure do.
I also love her character design. I like the way her eyes are drawn. It's full of sadness and yet
very beautiful. She might not show much emotion on her face, but you can see it all in her eyes. The pain, the
anguish, the loneliness, everything. Her eyes are probably the best feature about her. She also looks so pretty
with her straight flowing hair and classic clothing. The way she walks, her head is always held high. It shows
her confidence and power. I also like the complexity of her personality. She's cold and unemotional one minute
and all nice and sweet when she's around children. She's smart and her intentions are not always clear, which in turn
gives a sense of mystery about her. I just love the scene of the first ending song where she walks into the water.
There was just something about that scene that got me to like her so much. The way she walks into the water, it's almost
look like a suicide. The sadness in her eyes. The way her foot stepped back in the water. It was all great.
