NIKORA
Nikora is the person who Luchia stays with while on land, and she is the chef for a hotel called "Hotel Peach Parfait" at
first, then somehow changed to "Pearl Piari". She seems to be an older and important personelle in the mermaid kingdom, if
she is given such a task as to look out for Luchia. By judging from the fact that she would like Lucia to call her "sister",
perhaps she wants to look "young", considering Lucia is only 13. She is also very responsible an organized.
She is deeply in love with Maki the beachside restaurant owner; she would blush everytime he drops by, and flirts with him
a lot. They indeed become a couple later on, to the point of talking about marriage. However, though Nikora loves Maki, she
is not sure whether she should say yes to Maki's proposal. After all she is a mermaid and him a human, the relationship might
not work out. She finally gets her answer...Maki could not forget about his ex-wife Saori, and the main reason why he wants
to marry Nikora is because she resembles Saori.
MADAME TAKI
Madame Taki on the other hand, is the owner of Hotel Peach Parfait, and the so-called "fortune teller" who carries a crystal
ball (which is really a security camera that can see all parts of the household -_-;) wherever she goes, but usually just
stays inside her darkroom in the hotel. She doesn't appear much in the show. She either just suddenly pops up out of the blue
and tells a "fortune" about the current situation, or when people go to her for "advice".
Despite of her weirdness, she is actually quite respected in the mermaid world. Nikora and Hippo trusts her a lot, and
she has students like Aori who learn magic from her. Also, she owns various magical items (mostly pearls) that she gives to
Luchia during times of need like the Doki Doki Stone. A weird habit of hers is that everytime she puts some kind of "spell"
on her crystal ball, she needs to pluck out some of Hippo's fur, which sends Hippo flying through the roof literally! xD
We might not expect her to have a love life since she is very old. But indeed she does when she was younger. In episode
20 Luchia and company finds a romantic message in a bottle washed up from the sea, and it turns out that it is for Taki. Too
bad this plot is not developed further, I'm sure most of you want to know what happened between her and her lover.
