When Starfire's sister Blackfire shows up to visit, Starfire just wishes she would leave. Blackfire's wild, cool, and
hip -- everything Starfire's not.
When The Titans first met Blackfire, they seemed to like her so much, Starfire was beginning to think they
wouldn't need her around anymore. But just as Star thought about leaving, a couple of aliens thugs showed up to haul her away.
The Titans discovered that Blackfire had framed her sister for crimes in the Centauri System. Blackfire was hauled away to
prison, swearing revenge.
Blackfire later broke from prison and wrested control of Tamaran as its new Grand Ruler. Blackfire attempted
to get revenge on Star by forcing her to marry a hideous alien. It was actually part of an elaborate plot to possess a powerful
jewel. When her ruse was uncovered, Blackfire was banished from Tamaran.

In the comic book series, Blackfire did not have the ability to fly - although every other Tamaranean was born with the ability
of flight. Fot that reason, she was passed over for the throne - which gave Starfire the role as true princess of Tamaran.
In the comic book, Blackire eventually wrested control of Tamaran. To everyone's surprise, she ended up being a strong and
effective leader! Blackfire remained leader until Tamaran was destroyed.
Hynden Walch provides the voices of both Blackfire and Starfire.
Producer Glen Murakami on Blackfire: "I was glad that we did Blackfire. And I thought it was funny to do it in that kind
of I Dream Of Jeannie/Bewitched way. I thought it was cool to do that with the characters. And again, it's like, how do we
take this big dramatic Blackfire story arc - how do we do that and distill it all down into one episode? And I think we did
it. I think you get it; You instantly understand their relationship. I think we held true to the character - but we just crammed
it all into 22 minutes [laughs]."
Starfire's sister Blackfire was even more vicious in the comic book tales. Blackfire was born without the power of flight,
and was passed over as heir to Tamaran - which was bestowed on her younger sister, Starfire. For this, she hated Starfire.
She killed her pet, betrayed her planet to the evil Gordanians and sold her sister into slavery. When they met again, Blackfire
and Starfire fought viciously - almost to the death.
Years later, Blackfire returned and ruled Tamaran but learned to soften her ways. But the sisters always seem
to remain at odds with each other.Blackfire and Starfire's history is detailed in Tales of the New Teen Titans mini-series
#4 [1982] which shows the origin of Starfire.

 Sisters Betrothed

Hynden Walch (the voice of Blackfire) Starfire is the sensitive Teen Titan, a newcomer to Earth
who desperately wants to fit in just like any other teenager. Although she is caring, with a curiosity that is innocent and
endearing, she won't hesitate to hurl an energy ball at anyone who tries to mess with her or her friends. Hynden Walch, who
has had guest starring roles on NYPD Blue, The Drew Carey Show, and The Practice, brings warm-hearted kindness to Starfire.
